Who exactly is this reboot for? The article mentions “10,000 angry Whedon fans screaming at once”, it is clear that the decision to not include Joss Whedon will not be a popular one with fans.

So if this series is not for the existing fans, who is it for? The fans of Twilight perhaps?

It makes no sense to me to go in a direction that is clearly opposite to the wishes of the existing Buffy fans.

Besides, it's not been that long really since Buffy finished, which still has a lot of playback value and isn't too dated to watch uncomfortably. Also the Buffy storyline is still being continued with the “Buffy Season 8″ series of comics, which is seen as canon. Surely it's not yet time for a reboot just yet?

There's plenty of oldish tv shows that are getting to the age where they could be brought back. Reboot Babylon 5 anyone?
